Actor Riggan Thomson is most famous for his movie role from over twenty years ago of the comic book superhero Birdman in the blockbuster movie of the same name and its two equally popular sequels. His association with the role took over his life, where Birdman is more renowned than "Riggan Thomson" the actor. Now past middle age, Riggan is trying to establish himself as a true artist by writing, directing, starring in and co-producing with his best friend Jake what is his Broadway debut, an adaptation of Raymond Carver's story, What We Talk About When We Talk About Love. He is staking his name, what little artistic reputation that comes with that name and his life savings on the project, and as such will do anything needed to make the play a success. As he and Jake go through the process of the previews toward opening night, Riggan runs into several issues: needing to find a replacement for the integral supporting male role the night before the first preview; hiring the talented Broadway name, Mike Shiner, for that role, Mike who ends up being difficult to work with and who may end up overshadowing Riggan in the play; having to deal potentially with a lawsuit based on one of his actions to ensure success; needing to be there for his daughter, Sam, who he has hired to be his production assistant and who has just come out of drug rehab; and pleasing the New York Times critic, Tabitha Dickinson, who wants to use any excuse to give the play a scathing review which in turn would close the show after the opening night performance. But Riggan's biggest problem may be his own insecurities, which are manifested by him constantly hearing what he believes to be the truth from the voice of his Birdman character, who he often battles both internally and externally.

Both of the students' abnormal brain intelligence are not accepted by the school and transferred to to a higher school with better education. Both of them excel in different subjects such as Mathematics, English, History. One day, during a Religion Class, Zoe ruins her reputation by questioning the teacher's lesson. Then, the next day, Aica also ruins her name when she defecates during a Music lesson. The two, now outcasts, become good friends and plot evil plans on the school by poisoning students and a teacher, and booby- trapping the nun who Zoe questioned. The whole school fears them until high school came, Zoe and Aica, are fighting for the Valedictorian position. Zoe's mother convinces her to find Aica's weakness to get the throne. A new student, Mark Ferrer, an illiterate athlete, enters the school. Aica immediately falls in love with him leading Zoe to plot her evil plan. Zoe meets up with Mark and insisted him to fall in love with Aica while Zoe does his home works, and even make him copy her answers on quizzes. Not being attracted to Aica, Mark forces himself to date her. As the plan goes on, final exams were finished and the distribution of cards took place. Aica and Zoe compare their final averages only to find out they have the same average of 98.71 enraging Zoe. To make their daughter the class Valedictorian, Zoe's parents donated a building to the school. Zoe, now the Valedictorian became too proud of herself. On a restaurant after the graduation, Aica confronts Zoe about the unfairness of her parents and gives her a gift of pills and mayonnaise while Zoe gives her a toilet seat. Ending their friendship, Aica weeps as Zoe eats 5 layers of leche flan. Aica's parents ask her to stop seeing Mark. Mark leaves Aica happily as he was not interested with her in the first place. On the course of their college lives, Aica graduated as a Mathematics Major in Ateneo and Zoe graduated as a Neuro Science Major in Princeton both Suma Cum Laudes. Before returning to the Philippines, Zoe undergoes Plastic Surgery and becomes insanely beautiful, so does Aica. Both are now models and when both of them learns each others success, it angers them both leading to Zoe bumping on Mark, now a literate and American graduate. Zoe plots another plan against Aica and uses Mark to do it in exchange for Zoe to accept Mark's interest in her. The plan was for Mark to make Aica fall in love with him again and dump her afterwards. While on a tutorial lesson, Aica was accidentally visited by Mark (by Zoe's plan) and the two came back together. Realizing Aica really loves him, Mark's conscience eats him and decides to love Aica for real and erasing his deal with Zoe. Angering Zoe, she plots another revenge on Aica and shows everybody the animated video version of Aica defecating to the reunion that took place a few days later. Aica follows Zoe to her house and as she enters, a booby trap almost kills Aica (a shot gun). After several minutes of Zoe trying to kill Aica, Zoe finally gives up after Aica almost drowns her. The two made up when suddenly, Zoe reveals it was just an act and points a gun at Aica. Aica runs for her life only to bump into Mark, who shielded Aica from the blow, wounding his face. After the incident, Zoe's parents attempted to help Aica with anything she needs. Realizing they were good after all, Aica backs up the case against Zoe but she did not even seem sorry. Aica hands over a picture to Zoe. The picture was Mark's wounded face and Zoe bursts in tears. After several months, Aica and Mark, now newly weds enter their room to see a somewhat booby trap created by Zoe, as it finishes, it was revealed that it was a sorry gift from Zoe, realizing she was wrong all along. The gift was a picture of Aica and Zoe on their high school. The story ends with Zoe returning to the States on a plane. Marco Yuzon, having finished reading the book, started his signing and left the bookstore. On the parking area, a girl slams the book on his windshield revealing her to be Aica and with her was Zoe in their real appearances (unattractive and heavyweight). The two, whose real names are Mica (Aica) and Joey (Zoe) were very mad with Marco who was in fact their classmate since Elementary. The novel he wrote was a fiction about the two best friends. The two girls explained that Marco was the real one who got busted, who became cast away, who defecated his pants, who poisoned the students and who disobeyed the teachers and that Joey and Mica were real friends with each other. Due to insecurity of them being always on the top and he was always third place, he wrote the novel to put his anger towards them. Insulted that they were the topic of the book and Marco made Joey a lunatic, they insisted that Marco sign their book copies with his blood and started to beat him up.

She fakes crying and begins shouting that she does not want her father dead. Members of the media approach her and ask what her father’s name is, to which she answers Kenji delos Reyes. Hearing this, Kenneth confronts her and says that he is the only offspring of Kenji. Kenneth then tells the media that he’s the legal son and he can show his birth certificate to prove this. Kelay, on the other hand, has Kenji’s picture. Confirming that the girl on the picture is not his mother, Kenneth is asked by the airline officer for his contact details while Kelay is shunned. Kenneth confronts her to ask who the girl on the picture is, and Kelay bargains that she would tell Kenneth once he agrees to tell her at once when the airline contacts him for information regarding Kenji. However, all the flights to Legazpi are booked. He has no choice but to take the bus but since it's Holy Week, all tickets have been sold. Kenneth sleeps at the bus station, hoping to get a ticket as a chance passenger, yet he oversleeps. Fortunately, Kelay went to the same bus station and bought tickets for the two of them. On the way to Legazpi, Kelay, Athena’s niece, tells the tale of young Athena and Kenji, a “gangster” whom everyone was afraid of. He is broken hearted over Athena Abigail Tizon. Hearing this, Athena realizes that the messages were sent by Kenji. She watches with pity as Kenji gets mugged. He finds out about his messages for Abi and confronts Athena. To her surprise, he kisses her forcefully and tells her that from then on, she will be his girlfriend as she owes Kenji for causing him to get mugged. Athena has to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to get Abi jealous. At first, Athena refuses and Kenji bullies her. Athena eventually gives in when Kenji attempts to commit suicide by jumping from the school's rooftop if she does not accept. The next day at school, Athena is treated like a princess with Kenji providing her bodyguards. Jealous, some girls at the school start bullying her. Kenji confronts them and says that no one hurts his girlfriend. Their pretend relationship eventually becomes real and the two confess their love for each other. Kenji takes Athena Dizon to Legazpi to see the Mayon Volcano and promises that someday they will get married in that place with the volcano as their witness. When they come back to Manila, however, Kenji begins to absent himself from class. Athena then gets an invite from young Lucas to go see Kenji who is in the hospital. Worried, Athena hurries and finds Abi lying in the hospital bed. Abi has stage three gastric cancer and was the reason why she broke up with Kenji. Wanting Abi to be happy and live longer, Athena breaks up with him. Kenji and Abi get married and Abi gives birth to Kenneth. While searching for Kenji in Legazpi, Kenneth receives a call from present day Lucas and he helps in looking for Kenji. On their way, Kelay receives a call from her family informing her of Athena’s health condition and that she is dying. Kelay and Kenneth part ways with Kenneth promising that Athena and Kenji would meet once he finds him. Kenneth finds the hospital where Kenji is confined and reads his letter to him. In the letter, Kenji tells him that he was on his way to Legazpi to say goodbye to his memories with Athena and apologizes for making Kenneth feel that way. When Kenji wakes up, the two hug and reconcile. When Kenji is well, Kenneth takes him to Athena’s house. Athena tells Kenji about her disease for the first time and tells him that his love kept her alive through those years. She says she is happy for Kenji and dies in his arms.
